Medicare and medical insurance accepted
Sleep apnea is a medical condition, so we work with your medical insurance, including Medicare, rather than your dental plan.
Why medical insurance, not only dental
Sleep apnea affects your heart, blood pressure and overall health, so it is treated as a medical condition. A custom oral appliance for sleep apnea is considered durable medical equipment. That means your medical plan or Medicare, not your dental plan, is usually what covers testing and treatment.
What we accept
- Medicare
- Major medical insurance plans
Oral appliance therapy for sleep apnea is medical treatment, so we work with your medical insurance rather than your dental plan. Call us and we will check your benefits before your first visit.
How it works
- Call or request a consultation. Tell us your medical plan and, if you have it, your Medicare information.
- We check your benefits. Before your first visit, we check what your plan covers, so you know where you stand.
- Testing. Coverage for an oral appliance usually requires a sleep apnea diagnosis from a sleep test. A home sleep test generally costs much less than a lab study, and some plans do not pay for lab studies unless there are serious risk factors.
- Treatment. Oral appliance therapy is medical treatment, so it goes through your medical insurance or Medicare rather than your dental plan.
What to bring
- Your medical insurance card and Medicare card
- A photo ID
- Results from any past sleep study
- Your CPAP details, if you have tried CPAP
- A list of your medications
